I’m posting this on all my accounts in hopes that it will reach you -

I will no longer be performing or focusing on music.

This announcement may seem useless seeing as I’ve been relatively inactive in both the online and offline music scenes for a couple of years now, but it’s a statement I need to publicize so it becomes more real to me.

I don’t regret the time I’ve spent trying to make it work. Whether I was in or out of love with it, music was my only choice for the past 8 years. Unfortunately, it’s gotten to the point where pursuing it no longer makes sense to me. Like some ill-fated relationships, we no longer bring out the best from and for each other. So, rather than continuing on with the charade, I’m opting out before I start to resent my craft.

As for the project I’ve been “teasing” on YouTube for a year - it’s done. Not “done” as in “finished”, but “done” as in “I’m no longer doing it”. Eventually, I’ll most likely release all the songs that were intended to be in the project, but no longer as a person who does music for a living - no big announcements, no release parties, nothing. I’m going back to treating songwriting as journal writing, while still doing select commissioned works from time to time. Again, just to clarify, I didn’t say I was going to quit writing, I’m just done with the whole “artist” part of music-making.

Music will always be a part of me, but the reality has set in that there are things beyond my music that need my attention. Though it may not be the case for other musicians/songwriters, I hope you respect that it’s the hand that I’ve been dealt, the hand I’m choosing to play with moving forward.

Here’s my goodbye vlog

And here’s the last song I’ll be posting for awhile

I appreciate all the time you’ve spent on me and my craft, on and offline.

No Room For Remorse

“Don’t worry about not making sense to people. Where you are and what you do is nobody’s business but yours. Burn bridges, leave people behind; do whatever it takes to make things happen. You can’t keep worrying about what other people might think or feel. The less time you spend worrying, the more time and energy you’ll have to do what needs to be done.

When you leave, you’ll realize which friendships have been dragging you down. Some of your friends might not realize it, but they’ve been using you from the start. They do whatever they can to keep you around because your friendship benefits them. Friendships aren’t supposed to be like that. You listen to each other and help each other out when you need to and when they need you, but you’re not supposed to demand for anything because you don’t owe each other jack shit. Thing is, most people these days think relationships are about giving to take and balancing some sort of relationship debt when, in reality, that shit’s supposed to come naturally. If you feel like one of you is in debt, you need to throw in the towel and get the fuck out of there.

The ones worth keeping are those who truly understand distance and timing. They won’t demand for explanations because they understand that every person is their own and that your decisions don’t involve them and they respect that.”
